Metabolic Cycling: My 7-Day Plan for Energy, Cancer Pressure, and Muscle Building with Visionbody
By Henri Schmidt, CEO & Founder of Vbtec/Visionbody, Muscle Expert and Cancer Survivor
I was devastated to hear that I had cancer, as is the case with all bad news. I knew I couldn't let cancer beat me, even though I must admit, I had to emotionally deal with the news for a while. I still had a lot of years left and a family I couldn't leave behind, so I wanted to live.
My years of experience in muscle science helped me conclude that rigid diets or generic workout plans would not work for me and that I needed to come up with a personalised way to help my body fight cancer.
Why I Built a 7-Day Plan for Survival and Strength
I needed to keep my muscle mass and energy, and a body strong enough to withstand constant pressure against the cancer cells.
That’s why I created my 7-Day Metabolic Cycling Plan and combined it with Visionbody EMS training and regular infrared sauna sessions.
For me, this routine became more than a nutrition and fitness plan; it became a survival tool, a way to keep my muscles and make sure that my body would transform into a war zone where cancer couldn’t survive.

What Is Metabolic Cycling?
Basically, metabolic cycling means rotating between fasting periods, carb boosts, and keto diet days. I can’t think of another way to better explain it. This nutrition strategy has been around for years, so I didn’t invent the wheel with this one, I did need to make some changes to make it fit my specific needs, though.
I didn’t want my body to get used to a single diet or schedule, because i didn’t want the cancer cells to be comfortable. And by rotating between diet days and combining them with EMS training and infrared sauna, I made sure that my muscles got everything they needed to grow, my immune system stayed strong and functional, and the cancer cells were constantly under pressure because my body wasn’t giving them a favorable environment in which to thrive.
This is what each day of the cycle helped me achieve:
-
Keto days: helped with fat burning, lowered inflammation in my body, and also helped my body to get rid of the sick cells (autophagy).
-
Carb boost days: helped me stimulate recovery, refill my muscle glycogen, which helps with muscle growth, and restore some of my strength.
-
Fasting days: also helped with lowering inflammation, but most importantly, during the fasting days, I managed to maximize cellular repair and increase the metabolic stress on the cancer cells.
My 7-Day Metabolic Cycling Plan
| DAY | NUTRITION | TRAINING/SAUNA | GOAL/EFFECT |
| Day 1 - Keto | 1 meal: Avocado, egg, fish, vegetables, healthy fats | Light EMS + sauna | Deepen ketosis, reduce inflammation |
| Day 2 - Keto | 1 meal Keto | Moderate EMS 20 min + sauna | Fat burning, muscle protection |
| Day 3 - Keto | 1 meal Keto | Stronger EMS 20-25 min | Enhance fat adaptation, protect muscle |
| Day 4 -Keto | 1 meal Keto | Moderate EMS + sauna | Continue fat burning, protect lean muscle mass |
| Day 5 - Fasting | Water, electrolytes, lemon + baking soda | Sauna + light EMS | Maximum autophagy, detox, and immune reset |
| Day 6 - Carb Boost | Rice, sweet potatoes, berries, with protein & fats | Light movement or rest | Refill glycogen, stimulate recovery |
| Day 7 - Fasting | Water, electrolytes only | Sauna + Light EMS | Deep cellular repair, strong cancer pressure |
➡ After Day 7, the cycle restarts with 4 Keto days.
I received the biggest shock of my life when I got the news that four tumors were growing into my spine, but I knew I had to do something, and I had to do it fast. So I took one of the most difficult decisions of my life, I decided I had to do a 25-day fast, it was very hard for me, and I had to use all my determination and self-control to get through it, but I stayed strong, and I managed to finish all 25 days of fasting.
And at the end of the 25 days? The outcomes were impressive. The tumors in my backbone were gone. This was all I needed to know to be sure I was on the right path.
But if you also had the misfortune of having cancer, you know that it almost always comes back. My happiness didn’t last for too long before a new tumor appeared. Fighting cancer it’s a very long battle, a battle that forces me to adjust, and to do that, I sometimes need to return to long days of fasting, and other times, I have to change the rhythm of my cycling plan. Even though I may lose small battles along the way, I intend to use my persistence and all the resources I can find and win the final war.
Why This System Works
-
Cancer Pressure: Cancer cells are unable to live in a body that deprives them of stability, and they can’t adapt to constant change. I alternate between diet and fasting days because of this.
-
Immune Boost: Shifting environments helps me activate immune cells like NK and T-cells.
-
Muscle Protection: EMS training + Carb-Boost days stimulate muscle growth a very important fact because most people lose their muscle mass when they get sick, and muscle keeps the body alive.
-
Sauna Advantage: Heat shocks help with protein repair and protect healthy cells from toxins.
-
Metabolic Flexibility: Cycling between catabolic (fasting/Keto) and anabolic (carb-fed training) states helps my body get the strength it needs to fight back

The Role of VisionBody EMS in My Metabolic Cycling Plan
Trying to keep my body strong against cancer with nutrition alone wasn’t enough for me because during keto and fasting cycles, muscle breakdown can be a huge risk. This is when my Visionbody suit became helpful.
-
The electronic impulses activate 98% of muscle fibers, even if the suit is used at low intensity.
-
On fasting days, light EMS training keeps muscles active without the need for calorie intake
-
On carb-boost days, hard EMS training ensures the muscles get the glycogen that they need to grow
By combining my metabolic cycling plan with EMS, I got to keep my muscles and the energy I needed to keep fighting cancer
The Power of the Infrared Sauna
The sauna is another important part of my plan. Every session triggers heat shock proteins, which act like “ guardians” and protect the healthy cells while attacking the unhealthy ones.
Other sauna benefits include:
-
Better detoxification through sweating.
-
Improved blood circulation and oxygen intake.
-
Helps with recovery after the EMS training sessions.
Benefits Beyond Cancer: Why Anyone Can Try This
Although I created this plan for my cancer battle, it can also be used by anyone who wants:
-
To achieve higher energy levels through metabolic flexibility
-
Lose weight by getting rid of unhealthy fat and building muscle mass
-
Help the body recover faster after training sessions and from daily stress.
-
Get longevity benefits from autophagy and a healthy immune system.
Even if you are not battling cancer, you can help your body stay full of energy and healthy by doing metabolic cycling.

Weight Loss Without Sauna
Even though the sauna helps by amplifying your results, if, for any reason, you are unable to do sauna sessions, you can still lose weight if you alternate between fasting days, carb boost days, and keto days. And by combining them with EMS training, you naturally create the perfect conditions for steady weight loss while protecting your lean muscle mass.
My Personal Conclusion
What I started as an experiment to see if it would help me suppress the cancer cells has now become my way of life.
My diet plan, which I combine with EMS training and infrared sauna sessions, is, in my opinion, the most effective tool I have in this ongoing cancer battle.
And, one thing I want you to know if you are also struggling with an illness, is that your body is stronger than you realize. And you can help it fight and win by giving it the proper resources.
My 7-day cycling plan is about survival, growth, and hope and I am sharing it with you, because I want you to know that you are not alone, that there still is hope.
